As HTA and cost-effectiveness analysis become increasingly central to reimbursement, regulatory and policy decisions, ITECH strengthens methodological capacity through structured training in Hong Kong and internationally — in collaboration with leading academic partners.
A four-day intensive course co-organised with the Health Economics Research Centre (HERC), University of Oxford, and CUHK. Led by Prof Philip Clarke, Dr Junwen Zhou, Dr Xuemin Zhu (Oxford), Prof Juliana Chan, Dr Eric Lau and Prof Juliana Lui (CUHK). Reached full capacity with 70 participants and a waiting list — attracting attendees from government, Hospital Authority, industry, NGOs and academia.
Prof Juliana Lui taught in the workshop “Health Technology Assessment: Roles, Methods and Challenges,” which concluded with a multi-stakeholder panel featuring Prof Gilberto Leung (iMACE Convenor) on the future of HTA in Hong Kong.
Co-hosted with the University of Oxford under the international Diabetes Challenge Network. Workshops included “An Overview of Diabetes Health Economic Simulation Models and Clinical Applications” (Prof Philip Clarke, Oxford) and “Understanding Patient Preferences Using Discrete Choice Experiments” (Dr John Buckell, Oxford).
Prof Juliana Lui delivered a session on the application of the Chinese Diabetes Outcome Model in cost-effectiveness analysis, emphasising the role of HTA in medication review and sustainable access.
Prof Juliana Lui delivered an invited workshop on “Consideration of Economic Evaluation Models in HTA and Health Policy,” engaging academic, government and industry stakeholders.
Prof Juliana Lui and Dr Eric Lau delivered lectures for Master of Public Health and PhD students on advanced health economic evaluation, HTA in Hong Kong and Asia, and patient-level simulation modelling.
Prof Juliana Chan and Prof Juliana Lui delivered keynote lectures at a one-day workshop with Prof Philip Clarke (Oxford), organised by the National Institute of Health and Medical Big Data, Wuhan University.
